Ruben Hays Carroll
  WATER VALLEY: Ruben Hays Carroll, Jr. age 35, passed away Monday, September 4, 2006, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.
  He was a truck driver for Townes Construction and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Carrollton.
  Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home Wednesday, September 6, 2006, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
  Funeral services will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock in the afternoon Thursday, September 7, 2006. The committal will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
  Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Jane Carroll of Water Valley; his father, Ruben Hays Carroll, Sr. of Carrollton; his mother, Nancy Mary Carroll of Grenada; a step-daughter, Dianah Switzer of Water Valley; one step-son, Jonathon Miller of Water Valley; and a sister, Sherry Windham of Holcomb.
  Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wayne Carroll.

Loyd F. Hughes
  WATER VALLEY: Loyd F. Hughes, age 75, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006, in Yalobusha County Nursing Home at Water Valley.
  He served as a law enforcement officer for the State of Mississippi’s Department of Transportation and was a Deputy Sheriff in Yalobusha County for eight years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Huges was a past member of First Baptist Church in Coffeeville and a current member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
  Funeral services were held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at three o’clock in the afternoon Monday, September 4, 2006. The committal was in Hopewell Cemetery.
  Survivors include: two daughters, Amanda Camp of Coffeeville and Heather Muirhead of Water Valley; two sons, Loyd Randle “Randy” Hughes of Hernando and Ricky Hughes of Coldwater; four sisters, Amanda Sue Humphreys of Jackson, Elsie Brower of Water Valley, Jane Clayton of Alabama, and Ann Fife of Georgia; three brothers, Boyd Hughes, Claude Allen Hughes, and Ralph Wayne Hughes, all of Coffeeville; and five grandchildren.
  Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Garner and Katie Sue Shaw Hughes.

Carolyn Thigpun Thomas
  BRIGHTON, TN: Carolyn Thigpun Thomas, 69, of Brighton, Tennessee died August 24, 2006, at her home. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Nathan E. Thomas; and a son, Keith Thomas.
  She is survived by: two sons, Michael Thomas and Phillip Thomas; a daughter, Kim Workman; two brothers, James Thigpun and David Thigpun; an aunt, Pearl Butler; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held at one o’clock in the afternoon, Sunday, August 27, 2006.

Lloyd “Doll” Tucker
  BATESVILLE: Lloyd “Doll” Tucker, 73, of Batesville died Saturday, September 9, 2006, in Baptist East Hospital at Memphis.
  Funeral services for Mr. Tucker were held at ten o’clock in the morning Tuesday, September 12, 2006, with Rev. Terry Floyd officiating. Interment was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville had charge of arrangements.
  Born August 11, 1933, in Ripley, Tennessee, Mr. Tucker was a son of the late Horace E. and Mary Alice Keltner Tucker. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and was a retired heavy equipment operator.
  Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Craft Tucker of Batesville; a daughter, Cindy Tucker Russell of Monticello, Arkansas; four sons, Billy Tucker of Courtland, Timmy Tucker of Water Valley, Chuck Tucker of Batesvialle, and Jerry Tucker of Tupelo; a sister, Louise Tucker Tatum of Ripley, Tennessee; one brother, James Tucker of Ripley, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.


William Horance Brewer
  WATER VALLEY: William Horace Brewer, age 78, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 8, 2006, at his home in Water Valley.
  Funeral service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning, Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Marts Memorial Services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
  Mr. Brewer was born in Heyden, Arkansas to the late Green Jones Brewer and Myrtle Dee Brewer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lady Hendricks Brewer. He was a retired employee of Certain-Teed.
  Survivors include: a daughter, Barbara J. Barton of Collinsville, Illinois, four sons, Williams R. Brewer of Lawson, Missouri, Wayne D. Brewer of Pell City, Alabama; Raymond H. Brewer of Kansas City, Kansas, and Chester D. Brewer of Lansing, Kansas; two sisters, Darcie Canada of Tennessee and Delora McDaniel of Mena, Arkansas, a sister-in-law and caregiver, Daisy Gould of Water Valley; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchidlren.

Janie Aliene Lynchard Box
  WATER VALLEY: Janie Aliene Lynchard Box, 87, passed away Saturday, Sepember 9, 2006, at her home in Water Valley. Mrs. Box was born in Indianola, to the late John Sylvester and Rosie Lee Ray Lynchard. She was married to the late William Claude Box, who passed away November 19, 1998. She was a special mother and homemaker.
  Funeral services for Mrs. Box were held at eleven o’clock in the morning Monday, September 11, 2007, in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The committal was held at 2:30 p.m. in the Hollandale Cemetery in Hollandale, Mississippi.
  She is survived by: three daughters, Rose-Etta (Gary) DeLong of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Rita (Richard) Phillips of Corryton, Tennessee, and Sylvia Ann (Don) Ahlborn of Water Valley; a son, William Joe (Sherryl) Box of Monticello, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Mamie Box of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and Polly Ann Smith, who was like a sister.

Frances Anne Milstead
  LITTLE ROCK, AR: Frances Anne Milstead, 69, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Memphis, passed away Friday, September 8, 2006, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock.
  She was born September 11, 1936 in Water Valley, to Odie Bruce and Mary Frances Vaughn Shuffield. Following graduation from high school, she worked as an operating nurse in Water Valley. On June 2, 1956 she married Ray Milstead in Oxford. They moved to Memphis in 1958, where she worked eight years for Holiday Press and two years for The Commercial Appeal as a book binder. Mrs. Milstead was a member of North Main Methodist Church in Water Valley.
  She is survived by: her husband, Ray Milstead; one daughter, Maryanne Campbell of Little Rock; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Elizabeth Milstead of Clinton; three grandsons; two brothers, Odie Bruce Shuffield, Jr. and Charles Allen Shuffield, and one sister, Linda Rae Shuffield all of Water Valley.
  Memorial services will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at North Main Methodist Church in Water Valley, with Brother Harold Jaudon officiating. Jack Davis
  WATER VALLEY: Jack Davis, 87, formerly of Water Valley, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006, in Graceland Care Center at Oxford.
  He was a retired employee of General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan. He worked for thirty-seven and one-half years and never missed a day of work.
  Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home Saturday, September 16, 2006, at one o’clock in the afternoon with Rev. Kevin Lee presiding. The committal was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley.
  He is survived by: a daughter, Tracie Lee (Kevin) of water Valley; two step-daughters, Brindetta Dean and Sandra Moore, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two step-sons, Robert Moore and David Moore, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two sisters, Lela Strong of San Jose, California, and Vessie Davis of Richmond, California; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.


Joyce Clements Baggett
  HERNANDO: Joyce Clements Baggett, formerly of Water Valley, age 66, passed away Monday, September 11, 2006, at her home in Hernando.
  She was married to Howard Webster Baggett and was the daughter of the late Thomas Nolan and Lafern Crews Clements. Mrs. Baggett was also preceded in death by a brother, James Richard Clements. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Water Valley.
  Fuenral services for Mrs. Baggett were held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Thursday, September 14, 2006, at one o’clock in the afternoon with Bro. David Freeman presiding. The committal was held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, with Justin Ryan Kulas, Jordan Daniel Kulas, Dalton Edward Kulas, Benjamine Ryan Kulas, Stephan Crews Baggett, and Joel Clements, Jr., serving as pallbearers.
  Survivors include: her husband, Howard Webster Baggett of Hernandao; two daughters, Susan (Robert) Parker, and Vera (Chris) Kulas, both of Hernando; one son, Benny Baggett of Cordova, Tennessee; four brothers, Jerry Clements of Southaven, Jeff (Dotty) Clements of Mt. Patricia "Pat" Ann
Henning Yates
BATESVILLE - Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Ann Henning Yates, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at her residence. She was 67.
Services were held Thursday, September 7, at Dickins Funeral Home with interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Rev. John Parker officiated. Dickins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Yates was born Aug. 11, 1939, in French Camp to Dotson Sydney Henning and Elsie Mae Armstrong Henning. She was an administrator and nurse for Quitman County Nursing Home and a member of Chapel Hill Church. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sports, fishing and work.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jesse Morris Yates of Batesville; six daughters, Cindy Scruggs of Hayward, CA., Renee Lothspeich of Decatur, AL., Pat Harris of Jackson, Cristelle Nixon of Seattle, WA., Gail Kelly of Starkville and Pam Barnes of Pell City, AL.; one son Jesse Morris Yates Jr. of Starkville; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

William Wright
BATESVILLE - Mr. William Wright, 74, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at his residence.
Services were held Saturday, September 9, at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland with interment at Eureka Cemetery in Courtland.. Rev. Larry Key officiated. Cooley's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wright was born to Robert Wright and Eva Holmes in Batesville. He was a retired farmer and a member of Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jearline Wright of Batesville; four daughters, Georgia Walls of Pope, Bonnie Wright of Batesville, May Shannon and Jackie Wright, both of Courtland; five sons, Ray Ellis, James Wright, Michael Wright, Rufus Wright, all of Batesville, Jessie Wright of Courtland; two sisters, Annie Chapman and Malissia Wright, both of Batesville; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
