Thomas and Jimmie Nell Garrett of Oxford announce the engagement of their daughter, Ann Marie Garrett, to Daniel Brett Purdy, son of Frank and Melissa Purdy of Oxford,
The couple will exchange vows July 29 at 5 p.m. at Anchor Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Doyce Nolan and the late Vyrl Nolan of Bruce, and Denton and Susie Garrett of Leland.
A 2006 graduate of Lafayette High School, she is presently enrolled at Northwest Community College on the Oxford, campus.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Charles and Glenda Mason of Oxford, and Henry and Nancy Purdy of Atoka, Tennessee. he is the great grandson of Willie Clark of Oxford and Pauline Delashmit of Covington, Tennessee.
A 2006 graduate of Lafayette High School, he is presently enrolled at The University of Mississippi, Oxford.

Erin Newman, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Newman of Starkville, was named Valedictorian of the Class of 2006 for Starkville High School. Erin is the granddaughter of Mrs. Norma Newman Dun and Mr. Ed Newman of Water Valley.
Some of Erin’s awards include: National Merit Finalist, National Sociaty of High School Scholars, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and Senior of Distinction.
Erin has been accepted into the Shackles Honors College at Mississippi State University where she plans to najor in biomedical engineering.

  Kolton Christopher Savage was born June 23, 2006, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford. He weighed six pounds, two ounces at birth.
  Parent are Chris and Cassie Savage of Water Valley. Grandparents are Jerry and Sherron Savage, also of Water Valley, and Bonnie and Tom Hinrichsen of Hattiesburg and Joe and Kim Herrin of Cottontown, Tennessee.
  Also welcoming Kolton are Brothers Brady and Ethan, and Sister Micah.

  Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Chapman of Grenada announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Melissa Marie Chapman, to Tommy Harbin Kerr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Houston Goodwin, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kerr, Jr. of Tillatoba.
  The bride-elect is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Gholson and the late Robert “Spud” Boydston, all of Water Valley, Ms. Phyllis Mathis of Grenada, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred P. Chapman, also of Grenada.
  She is a 2003 graduate of Grenada High School, and attended Holmes Community College and Northwest Mississippi Junior College. Miss Chapman is currently pursuing a career in real estate.
  The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Sadie Harbin Griffin and the late Tommy J. Harbin, the late W. D. “Doc” Griffin, all of Grenada, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Graham Kerr, Sr. of Tillatoba.
  He is a 2002 graduate of Kirk Academy in Grenada, and attended Holmes Community College and Delta State University. He served with the 155th Infantry Battalion where he was depolyed to Iraq for 12 months.
  Wedding vows will be exchanged at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2006, in First United Methodist Church at Grenada.
  No invitations are being sent locally, but all friends and reltives are invited to attend the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Dr. and Mrs. John Alvarez announce the birth of their daughter Kaytlyn Elizabeth Alvarez born June 24, 2006 at Bolivar Medical Center. The mother is the former Traci Davis of Water Valley. Maternal grandparents are Al and Betty Davis of Water Valley. Maternal great-grandparents include the late Ed Ray and Evelyn Perkins of Water Valley and the late Odell and Polly Davis of Shannon. Paternal grandparents are Howard Alexander and Kay Alvarez of Manila, Arkansas. Paternal great-grandparents include Velma Densmore of Manila Arkansas, the late Frank Flagg of Manila Arkansas, and the Late Mr. and Mrs. Jacinto Alvarez of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The baby is welcomed by big brother Jackson age two and a half.

  Brynna Camille Williams was born at the North Mississippi Medical Center—Women’s Hospital in Tupelo on June 28, 2006. She weighed nine pounds, three ounces and was nineteen and three-quarter inches long at birth.
  She is the daugher of Anthony and Julia Williams of Coffeeville. Grandparents are: Gayle Peeples of Water Valley; Carl and Martha Massey of Banner; Vickie Williams of Okalona; and Roger and Donna Williams of Vardaman. She is a great-granddaughter of Evalyn Peeples of Water Valley; Annette and Bill Miller of Paris, Louise Dye of Okalona; John Robert and Joyce William sof Houston; and the great-great granddaughter of Clara Mae Morgan of Vardaman.
